Please, no disrespectful answers from nonbelievers. This is an earnest question. I know what I think faith is about but I want to see what others think.

faith is like, reading religious books and accepting the things written in there as the truth and with deeper meaning.

Faith, whether used in a religious or a secular (non-religious) setting, is simply trust. A person who places their faith in a person, or a book, or a scientific experiment, or the sun rising at a certain time, is TRUSTING that person, that book, that experiment, that sunrise, to act or communicate in a consistent manner.

Faith may be supported or unsupported (blind). I can have faith that my friend "Bob" will show up on time for the blind date I have set up for him and my friend "Sally". If that faith is based on "Bob's" past record of punctuality, then the faith is supported. If "Bob" has a perpetual record of lateness, but just 'promises' to be on time for this event, and I still believe him, then my faith is unsupported (blind).

In my religion, my faith in the written record (Bible) of God's interaction with humans is based on (my trust of) centuries of careful recording and preservation, as well as trust in the original authors' truthfulness and ability to tell the truth (of the events they recorded). My belief in God (faith) is also based on my own experiences with God.

So, my religious faith is trust in both the authenticity of the written records as well as trusting a Person I have experienced (not a lot, but some).

If you put faith in something, you trust yourself to it. You take an action that will have consequences. If you trust in a chair, you will sit in it. If you trust in your mechanic, you will drive the car he fixed. If you trust in God, you will give anything and everything for fellowship with Him. Time. Talent. Treasure. Heart. Soul. Mind. Strength. Whatever it takes. For He is of ultimate Worth.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not see. Believing something before you see it with your eyes.

I feel that God is very close, in my heart and surrounding me. He answers my prayers and does miracles to us, which is one of the ways that proves His presence. You just believe His rational words He said in his book by heart and you can really feel Him around. You become faithful to Him the same way He is to you. To me, that's faith.

Faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen.

But I don't consider myself religious, I consider myself a Christian.

The scripture reference is below, read it for yourself and see.

To me religious people too many times try to do things to make them selves righteous.

The difference with faith is that faith in Jesus Christ makes a Christian righteous. By believing In God and confessing Jesus Christ ones Lord, one puts on Christ's righteousness. His shed blood atons for all sins. It is the gift of eternal life.

So the new born baby Christian is just as righteous through faith as the mature Christian in Christ remaining so for years.

So faith to me is that I am the righteousness of Christ so I will pray to my God. I am righteous so I will go to church. I am Christ Righteousness so I will love on people. Etc...

Not, I am going to quit smoking to be righteous. Or give gift to my neighbor to be righteous. That won't make me righteous. Jesus Christ makes me righteous. So I will do what the righteousness of Christ does.

Any way, Pastor Jack of River of Life Fellowship preached on the righteousness we are in Christ. It happens when we are born of God.

Believing in God without having logical, scientific, cold hard facts, that its true.
It doesnt mean that there isnt proof. We see it everyday, how God is involved in our lives.
God's love is not measured by instruments created by man.
