Personally I think they are painful and not very effective. Lost my epilater when I moved, and, to be honest, was quite relieved!

I have been using an epilator for several years now and would not go back to razor shaving.

The advantage with an epilator is that re-growth is smooth, without the stubble feeling and obviously will last longer. You do need to use it more than the recommended 4-6 wks though, but I guess that depends on the individual.

If I said it was painfree, I would be lying. However it is not as bad as many say. If you think of it as a stimulating (not sexual) experience, you won't find it too bad.

No pain no gain is the saying. That makes it sound really painful, but it's not.

Try it, I think you'll be pleased with the result.

Well I suffer with excema, and I use an epilator. It can be painful at first, but you get used to it after awhile. Make sure you get one with some kind of pain alleviator. Mine has a little bristly bit in front of the tweezers, which the brain feels and misses most of the pain. I wouldn't use it the same night that you want to show your legs off though. The hairs do get thinner, paler and more sparse. I tend to do my legs only (tried the bikini bits but they are just too deep) and twice within a few days, this tends to last properly for a week or two, but after doing it for awhile it can last longer and when it is allowed to grow back it is so thin and sparse that you can barely notice them. Shaving is quick and simple, but you would regret going back. It's also a good idea to apply a good cream afterwards especially if you suffer skin problems, I have some special cream (poorly skin!) that helps to prevent infections.

Epilaters

I use one and don't find it too bad. I certainly wouldn't use it under my arms but for my legs it's OK. The sensation is uncomfortable the first time you use it, but then you get used to it. It's cheaper and less messy than waxing, but has the same result. The more you use it the less pain you get as hair regrowth is much finer. I've actually found with continued use there are some parts of my legs that have had no hair regrowth.

They are very painful. I am quite hairy ... for a woman. So, I have to shave often. But, I would NEVER use an epilater again. It hurts very much!!!
