Woman in Islam are horrifyingly oppressed, abused, and mistreated. The most obvious for of inequality is polygamy in Islam which allows a man to marry up to four women! How can this possibly be logical? Why do woman in Islam accept this. Can’t they see that when a man marries 4 women that makes a woman worth ¼ of a man? Women in Islam are literally sex slaves. “If a woman spends the night deserting her husband's bed (does not sleep with him), then the angels send their curses on her till she comes back (to her husband),” said Mohamed. Also, "If a husband calls his wife to his bed (i.e. to have sexual relation) and she refuses and causes him to sleep in anger, the angels will curse her till morning." See faithfreedom.org/Articles/quran_teaches.htm
It really is sickening: the way men treat woman as their property, deciding if they may work or if they must wear Hijab! In Islam woman exist to serve men and please them. A woman is totally governed by her father/brother/husband/Son! WHY?

I do not know why nowadays there is a harsh attack on Islam and Muslims, I think the reason for this is what the media portrays positioning Muslims as butchers, inhuman terrorists.. the Bush administrator has started this and unfortunately some stupid few Muslims fanatics has made the rest and fed this fire of hatred. Well there are some fanatics in Islam –like any other religion in the world- this is true .. but they are not the majority and this is the fact that no one wants to know or admit… unfortunately those few ignorant fanatics are characterized by a loud voice, narrow minded prospective and most important a ready made license to accuse every thing and every one at any time… those few have caused a lot of damage to the moderate intellectual majority Muslims that lives across the globe. I am a Muslim who is married… my wife is not veiled….. she works in a multinational advertising agency in the planning department, she has a successful career … we have a 5 years old daughter. I am not married to any other woman and I do not have this intention … for I love my wife … I wish that we can judge people by their deeds, their behaviors and attitudes towards life with all its associations ..rather than accusing a particular person because of his race, gender and religion It is about time to stop this stereotype judgments

In a marriage, both the husband and wife have responsibilities set out for one another. I am sure a woman is allowed to refuse her husband if she is unwell, or for other valid reasons. Here's a website about the responsibilities of a Muslim husband http://salam.muslimsonline.com/~huma/sisters/wifehappy.html

My father or brother has never ever forced me to wear the hijab. My 34 year old sister does, ever since she was 16 and nope, no one forced her either. Wearing the hijab is a choice made by most Muslim women who want to follow the Quran's teachings which are the words of Allah. However I am aware there are countries that actually make women wear the hijab, like Saudi Arabia, but I think that's because it's considered a holy land and the burka was practiced in Afghanistan because of the Taliban. The Qur'an does not ask women to cover their faces.

Polygamy is only practiced by approximately 2% of Muslims. In my opinion it is better than having to deal with the fact that my husband is having an illegal affair. Plus polygamy is not encouraged in Islam, it is there as a solution.

I don't exist to serve men and please them.

In the Bible, Eve was blamed for Adam's downfall... in Islam, both Adam and Eve were responsible. Christianity also believe that the pain of childbirth is the punishment for women. In Islam, paradise lies beneath your mother's feet.

If you want to know about Muslim women, talk to Muslim women. Hear their voices and their stories. It's only fair.

I dread to think what fantasy book you have been reading but as a Muslim women i am treat with the up most respect by Muslim men in my family and society.I have never been forced to do anything against my will more so in my family the girls hold precedent over boys and are spoilt rotten.

So if the content of your question is simply to paint a horrific picture of Muslim men you are sadly mistaken because Muslim women love Muslim men simple.

I think the answer lies with the muslim women.I was interested in a comment from mawarda, who says we should listen more to muslim women, about whether they are downtrodden or not,and i agree ,but were are these voices,i dont mean the voice of the more liberated westernised muslim, who is more like a lapsed catholic, but from te women who do wear the full veil, the ones who are one of 4 wives.these are the ones who can answer the question.

The more ignorant and illiterate a person or population is, the more fervently religious they are. Considering the average Muslim has a second grade education level and considering that Muslim women are, for the most part, denied those lofty levels of education, there is little to wonder why they are so committed to their silly religion.
