I recently answered aquestion that someone aske about Gay marriage. My reply was I dont believe in it. And to Go read the Dible. So many people reported me and yahoo removed my answer. I have seen so many people say things worse than that. People have told me on here that I am wrong because I married a white man. I did not flag or report them. Everyone here is entitled to their own opinoin or are they? Why do you think so many people reacted this way

You'll find that people are all for free speech unless it disagrees with their own opinion.

You are absolutly right, at least the part about being entitled to your own opinion. As far as using the bible or Dible as you wrote, is a tired, old and meaningless way to "prove' your point. First off, it was written by men, men that claim God spoke to them. If I told you that God spoke directly to me, and I wrote this book based on what he said, I also accounted a story of where he talked to me through a burning bush or something else far fetched, you all would think I was insane. I have to wonder, do you follow the book to the letter? Did you have premarital sex ? Or any of the many other sins listed? Is it ok for you because you "follow" the bible? Or because you believe in Christ, so that will save you? Also why are there only 2 books written by women? Two of the shortest books? If women are so insignificant to God then why did he give us the most important job of creating life and raising the children??? In addition do you know that there are many more "books" that didn't make it into the bible? That a group of men sat around and they decided which books would go into this bible? Not God, so maybe many of the books that didn't make it into the bible tell more then we really know. I also know that many christian websites will say that there are reasons these books didn't make it into the bible. However, these are reasons they (men) decided, again not God. I for one will not let a man made book dictate to me, how I or anyone else should live.
Blessings

I disagree with you when you say that Gay Marriage is wrong but I do respect your beliefs. You're right, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I personally do not believe in interracial dating and/or marriage but I do not believe that I have the right to tell an interracial couple that they cannot marry. Just as no one has the right (in my opinion) to tell a gay couple that they cannot marry. Just because you don't believe in it doesn't mean it should not be allowed. Like I said, just because some people don't believe in interracial marriage doesn't mean that it is illegal (anymore).

The point is yes, everyone is entitled to their own beliefs but the Yahoo! Answers team is pretty screwy and they don't always get it right when removing questions and answers. It's all about whether or not you get reported and many times people report questions and answers for no good reason. It's not exactly a perfect system.

The most people here on answers.yahoo.com are from the US and are not used to speak there opinion openly. They need to be political correct and they are afraid of telling the truth.
And unfortunately they are quite correct, as I would also not tell everybody in the US my opinion openly, I would be afraid of loosing my job or going to jail....etc...

The thing with the gay marriage is different and you need to see it different:

I do not think anyone can believe in gay marriage as you can only believe in marriage if you see it as an religious thing.
In Europe and other enlightened areas, there are often two marriages one at the city counsel and if you need it, you can also have a secong marriage at the church (catholic or protestant). Marriage has nothing to do with religion, it is just a contract. And gay people can also have contracts with each other .....can't they?

Please stay open to other peoples opinions, even you intend to be quite religious and tolerant....

I think "Violations" on Yahoo! Answers is crap. Free speech for everyone- as long as it doesn't endanger the life of anyone else, which would be pretty hard considering this is the internet. If you want to type swear words, politically incorrect terms, etc., that is your choice. It's also the choice of others not to read it. Censorship is the true evil. Long live the first amendment!
Hmm... I'll probably get reported for this.

If you are idiotic enough to agree with one tiny passage in the Bible, whist ignoring hundreds of other passages then you deserve to be banned.

According to the Bible, most women who have been raped should be killed, women can't be teachers and you can't trust a woman's promises because women are deceitful and manipulative and because a woman's promise is null and void if her husband disapproves of it.

It says all of that in the Bible, in fact the Bible seems to think worse of women than it does homosexuals so basically shut up until you have decided to follow the Bible to the letter including all the really mental stuff like not eating birds that fly or not wearing items of 2 different materials at the same time.

I also got reported for an inuendo that was suppose to be funny.
Today I have seen absolute filth not even blocked out with stars to replace letters.....I should print them. However if people want to put themselves out there they should be able to take a joke. Don't worry about what other people think...just be happy with yourself and be happy that you have a good husband. People are always gonna look for something to complain about and it is really none of their business. And we are all entitled to our opinion even if it is offensive to someone. Or they don't agree with us. And for the people that find some things too offensive you need to go back to Nick Jr.com and get out your handy dandy notebook and find the clues.

I don't think your answer was offensive nor do I think it was helpful. The issue of Gay marriage is sensitive because everyone wants to feel equal in society. To tell someone they are lesser because of who they are is offensive and hurtful. Allow people to believe and live as they choose. Just as you would like that same respect. I don't think you should have been reported and your question removed. The opinions of the truly intolerant and stupid deserve to be right out in the open for all to see so that we will not forget how low understanding can sink. Leave the gays alone, let them get married. they deserve to be as miserable as the rest of us. Besides, they don't breed like rutting weasel immigrants from Cathoholic countries.

Probably because you disagreed without offering up any real reason why you disagree. "Go read the Bible" isn't really a rebuttal.

However, I do agree that people should be less sensitive about answers they disagree with. I've had many of my answers reported just because I disagreed with the Christian superstition.

first of all i must say that your right in the view of the bible, but will say this about gay marriage, its become a political issue. especially in the states where their neighbours in Canada have legalized gay marriage. Many gay couples are travelling to Canada to legalize under Canadian law their relationship. Is there an equality of rights in united states who claims their must be a separation of church and state if they don't allow gay marriage. my wife's brother is gay, and has lived in a long term relationship with another male. he asked me one time what i thought about him. knowing i was a person with strong christian convictions i answered him this way. i like you as the person who are, and i accept your relationship with _______ i will never judge you for your conduct, but knowing the bible the way i do, i can not give you my approval either. as for judging you, i leave that up to god and god alone.
