As many have said before me, it is to clean themselves. However, watch to see if there is some obvious irritation that they are trying to soothe. If their bottom is red, take them to the vet. Also, check the litterbox and see if their feces is soft or runny, and if so go to the vet. This is also an indication that something more serious is going on. If there is nothing else to make you worry, it is simply grooming.

The same reason dogs lick theirs (and their balls) - because they can.

However, a better question is, "Knowing that dogs and cats lick their bottoms, why do you let them lick your face?"

Because they can't tear the desired amount of toilet paper they need without their claws getting in the way.

To clean themselves. Can you imagine the germs that could be in their poo so they clean it off.

A bear says to a rabbit do you have trouble with poo sticking to your fur?
Rabbit says no?
Bear says good and wipes his bum on him ha ha
