This new tv doesnt play any dvd that has been burnt, only the bought ones. Is there some software or anything I can do to make this tv play the burnt dvds. I have many home movies of my family etc I want to be able to watch.

Post the model and brand of your TV here so we can look up what types of disks it supports please.

"Its a Magnavox" is useless - like you. Magnavox makes dozens of different TVs.

"Post the model and brand" - read the response and be a little less pitiful.

If this is your model (or one of them) then you can only use DVD+R/RW. Check page 7 of the usermaual for supported disc types. It could be that your burnt DVDs are on DVD-R/RW.

Try to use AVS Vide Converter to burn DVDs.
I like this program.
