That's a noble idea Alhamdulillah.

The Qur'an is not too difficult to memorize. The entire Qur'an uses a combination of about 2000 words to come up with the magnificent work that it is, being God's word.

Having professional help from Islamic learning centers would be great sister. They will keep you motivated since the task can seem impossible sometimes.

May Allah bless you for the intention.

Yeah, the Arabic in the Qur'an is different and more beautiful. Good luck memorizing. I read in a newsletter the other day that an 82 year old woman just completed memorizing the Qur'an. Every night she would read about 3 Surahs, and the next morning she and her daughter would practice them again. Sweet huh? :)

If you wants to learn Arabic just to read the Koran( out dated information) then I think it is waste of time and effort as you can just read the translations (non-Arab Muslim are the majority of Islam and they do not know how to read the Koran, may be just few verses), but if you wants to learn Arabic to interact with the Middle- east culture then it is good Idea like working as translator( NY university offer Diploma in that). Contemporary Arabic culture is not only Koran.

Memorizing the Quran is very hard, it will be great if you were able to do it, especially that you do not speak Arabic, God bless you, good luck

Well I'm not a muslim, but I think you should just learn Arabic and read it (the Qur'an) daily. To have favourite pasages and know what they mean, means for more than to resite it like a parrot...

What a colossal waste of your life. A goal that makes no sense and accomplishes nothing for the rest of humanity, let alone yourself. Why don't you study something that would benefit your fellow humans, like medicine, or agriculture instead of a book of fairy-tales? As far as finding other Muslims who feel the same way, sadly, you will find may who think your pathetic goal makes sense.
