It can defiantly work.
I dated a guy in Europe while I was in the states for almost 2 years.
Deployments might suck, but honestly, being air force myself, I find it harder to date civilian guys. They just don't get my job, hours, and the military.
It really doesn't matter what branch, but while I'm in the military, I date other military guys.

To help, make sure to take leave every 3 months or so and plan trips to see eachother. It makes it easier when you know when you're going to see them next.

Just think, at least your not Navy and the other is Marines.... that could get awkward.
