I would try a little bit of tequila that is what my family does to add a little sizzle and it adds extra taste but it doesn't get you drunk because the fermentation process is reversed so it would be safe for kids to eat plus it sparks an awesome flame upon the skillet then it just dies down and it smokes more which is really good.

brush your food with corn oil. it has a higher heating temperature than most other oils.you can really heat up the skillet then and when you put the food on to cook it will smoke like crazy but you won't get a nasty burnt taste from the food

Worcester sauce. Just make sure you only heat one end of the sizzler and hold it away from your face.

Whatever you do, never put water on hot oil, it is very dangerous, probably the biggest cause of kitchens catching fire.
