Usually, yes. Depending on how young your baby is, he/she is probably missing their mother and/or siblings. This new baby will get used to being away from the other kitties they spent the first weeks of their life with. Give your new family member lots of love and attention. You will become the surrogate mother/father for this baby and they should quiet down. Some don't and remain vocal throughout their life. Hang in there!

I think it depends on the cat and their 'personality'. Some cats meow a lot, others don't. I have one that is practically silent except for when she's playing and the other meows all the time and he always has. Your cat may always be this way.

A cat only meows when its trying to get your or somethings attention. Listen to the cats meow after a while you will be able to distinguish a "i'm hungry" meow and a "Leave me alone" meow.
Some cats a very talkative and want your attention thats all.

Cats just change their meow.
Is your kitten nuetered yet , as she may be calling for a mate, which ususally happens whilst the female is quite young.
It is an awful sound which is peircing in tone.
Cats as they get used to us find other ways of getting our attention. They meow for food , to be let out , and many other reasons.
Cats as I have found , mine are 10 6 and 4 still meow , just to say " play with me "

How old is it?

If it has not long left it's mother then it will cry for her for a while but give in plenty of love and it will grow outta it.

Cuddle her close to you she will like laying on your chest and snuggling into your neck so she can feel you breathing and be warm and safe and close to you as she was her mother.

If it's a girl then it will need to be neutered at about 3/4 month's or if you don't let it out it will do your head in SHE WILL NOT SHUT UP and the wailing noise go's through the day and night and she will be up at the window's and trying to run out of the door every chance she get's.

BELIEVE ME IT'S A NIGHTMARE.

I put up with it for two seasons then i had 2 get her done lol.

as they mature they will quiet down. my cat has quieted down quite alot actually, she only meows when i call her name or if she's looking for me. she used to meow all the time, for food, to go outside, just to play, i eventually stuck her in a cage for a week and she quieted down quite nicely too. if your cat doesnt stop after about 2 years i'm going to advise you to buy a nice big kenal*
