A crying is naturally best way to get rid of stress.
I feel so much more calm and relax after good cry.
however, it's not my solution to deal with every stress. I give all I can to deal with it without giving into cry.
Because, weeping, not a real crying, is not a healthy way, and can easily become a hobbit.

I find that crying helps relieve stress. When I try to hold in the tears, it seems to cause more stress

Verry good question.I appreciate these types. Now let me come to the point. It is absolutely true that you will get relief from crying.
Now there is a little problem with some. They think if crying is manly or is it just saved for women.Don`t think this way.One saying that I love very much goes like, "If you are thinking of something that it may be fearful then u are already under control of that element. This way,if you start thinking that "no!why am I going to cry,oh they will laugh at me!" then you will get more stressed.Just believe in yourself and go ahead.Cry,fight,love,kiss,...Oh I do cry when it comes.........Good luck
But win over your urge of crying when it comes due to dippression.Start fighting with the cause of that.

If you have pent up emotions, crying can help you release. Sometimes its healthy to have a "good cry". Although you might feel ridiculous crying, afterwards you could feel better and relieved that you got whatever it is out of your system. Crying can be a very healthy and positive thing emotionally. Let it flow!

What?!

The body has it's own intelligence for dealing with emotions you know, crying is a common release for stress, confusion, hurt, anger, sadness and some people cry when they are very happy, deeply touched emotionally. I find it hard to believe someone would ask this. But, maybe you have never had the experience or weren't allowed it. Time to let it go and find out for yourself .

Depends on the situation.

I believe that in situation of stress one should resort to action. Acting and facing the adversity head on is what relieves stress for me. When you cry and brood over something you convince yourself that you have no control over the situation.

if you feel the need to cry...go with it. Holding it in will not make you feel better. Crying is your body's way of showing emotion.
Constantly trying not to cry will only lead to your body (and mind) finding a way to release it. Which could come out in some pretty negative ways. example...punching a wall...hurting someone else etc etc.
I think a good cry is good for your body mind and soul.

Psychologically speaking, it relieves it. If you cry and get it all out, and really let it go... then its a big reliever.
