How would the idea come up for social concerns? Were they just sitting around one day, thinking of how to control society and someone said,"Hey, let's make up God. That will make them scared."
Sorry, it doesn't make sense people...
Have faith!

As far as things being unexplained, some still do that to this day with evolution. Some may ask," How did the world come to exist?"
An answer may be, " Well, we're not sure, but we think there was a big explosion that caused all this." Is that not placing the cause, also?

It was the 'in' thing in the past. If something couldn't be explained by the knowledge at the time then it was considered to be the actions of a supernatural creature of some sorts. Lightning, for example, became Thor's and Zeus's thunderbolts.
Unfortunately, some people took this too far, to the point where only one god was accounted for causing everything.

The point in making up a Supreme Being is to answer life's unanswered questions. People take solice in believing that if they do good in life, there is a wonderful, blissful place for them to 'live' for all of eternity. Uncertainty is the reason God was made up. It makes people not feel alone in the world. It makes them believe that bad things happen to them for a good reason. It justifies suffering and pain. It gives people something to look forward to. It enforces morals on the human race so that we do not live like savages.

The first sign a species is becoming sentient is when they have evolved to the point where they can abstract enough to invent a god. The first sign a species is achieving sentient maturity is when they get rid of their gods. A large chunk of Humanity still has a way to go yet.

This is a moot question. GOD is alive and well, busy expanding the universe along with the rest of his manifestation. Why do you need reminding of this? you already know "GOD DWELLS WITHIN YOU AS YOU", wake up,you will fall behind in you duty to express Gods will.

Because there are questions in life that nobody is able to answer, religion claims to have the answers, one of which is god. That is the whole point of any religion anyway: answering the philosophical questions like "where do we come from", "where are we going" and "what is a good person".

If your house burns down or your child dies you have to have something or someone to belive in to make you think that better days are ahead and that you can make it another day
People began to believe in higher beings because they made it easier to rule the people in one of those "I didn't say it he did and he is more powerful than I".

He was made up for the people to put fear in their minds and hearts...i think we have a brain and we need to think deeper rather than just follow what the bible says...don't u think so?
Just be a good person inside..that's all you need ...why do you need a god to tell you what is right or wrong? it does not make any sense to me....
