I, will need to complete schedule 1040 A, for the IRS. The documents that I, have are either lost, misplace or not available at this time to verify my current deduction for the year 2000. The IRs want me to submitt this document in order to determine if I, owe back taxes for this year.

It seems you are being audited by the IRS. If that is the case you need to engage a Certified Public Accountant or Enrolled Agent. If you feel the need to come onto this forum to ask questions rather than reconstructing your records, you are in need of expert help. Please do not delay. The sooner your new accountant contacts the IRS, the easier it will be to resolve matters.

In my source I put as a pdf instruction for 2000 Schedule A. Somethings you can itemize are restricted to a certian percentage and have silly rules. For Example in 2005 (posisbly 2006 as well) you can claim a general sales tax (sells tax that you pay for all your purchases throughout the year) but you need to save each and every one of your reciepts... So you might want to take a look at that to see what is going to suit your needs..
