Some time ago, I read about a guy who got turned on when he sniffed women's farts. Is that strange, or what?! What could have possibly caused this guy to get turned on by something like that?

Here is my attempt to delve into the mind of a fart fetishist.

Our society is constructed upon abstract principles originating from the human mind and as a consequence we can feel estranged from our primal animalistic nature.

We are taught at a young age that our sexual parts should be private and hidden. The mystery and intrigue adds to the sexual attraction to these body parts. Men, being archetypally penetrating in their sexual nature and more physical (more visio-spacial), are more prone to focus their sexual desire primarily on the hidden body parts. We see this with the obsessions with breasts and butts. In the Victorian era most men were sexually aroused by women's ankles because they were always covered up.

Women that men admire tend to be immaculately dressed and made-up to portray an image of perfection constructed from the tools of society. The image almost gives the subconscious impression that very beautiful women are beyond the animal world.

To engage on a sexual level (that is on a primal animal level) men are designed by evolution to get turned on by uncovering the layers which conceal woman's animal self (which may be clothes or his illusions).

A man with a peeing or farting fetish will be getting turned on by penetrating his illusion that the woman is perfect and beyond concealed animal functions like peeing or farting. He is aroused by how such a beautiful woman can do such a dirty animalistic thing.

Adding to the mix of psychological reasons we have the normal tendancy for men to be sexually attracted to female butts. Also, he may be getting turned on by her sharing something very private and shameful with him which may give him a sense of sexual power. When his nose is pressed up against her anus and he inhales her scent as she releases a fart he probably feels very special (believe it or not) that he has managed to get her to reveal something that she hides from everyone else.

Contrast this with how some men on the opposite spectrum will be turned on by being farted on in a way which makes them feel powerless and worthless and you can realise that this topic is as complex as the differences between individuals.

The mind is attracted to the guilty, the forbidden, the taboo. Take a look at most other fetishes. How many people do you know that make them public? Additionally, most people have some level of shame about their bodily functions. Perhaps sniffing women's farts to this man was some sort of taboo thing that he was attracted to... maybe he was taught as a child that such bodily functions were disgusting and he became fixated on it. Who knows.
