You're such a loving person....
By the way, dogs could say the same thing about us....to them, we smell funny, we eat weird things, we are loud and talkative all the times, most of the times we are too busy to interact with them, we also lose hair, and a huge amount of our skin particles are always in the air, and, boy, can they smell it, and yet, they learn to live with a species so much different than theirs relatively fast....Like them or not, you gotta give them that....

There are some people you like to spend time with, and some you don't. It is the same with dogs. Some dogs are awful! If this is the kind of dog you have been around, no wonder you don't think much of the animal. BUT some dogs are awesome!

My standard poodle doesn't shed, doesn't smell, is trained and a good guard dog. He eats only 3 cups of dog food per day, and goes out four times. He loves to hike, run, swim, or just simply lie around the house like a couch potato. He hangs out with me no matter where I am in the house. He loves me, he loves the cat, he loves every other animal or person he meets! And the best thing about my dog is that he MAKES ME LAUGH.

If you want to see some really cool dogs, visit a dog training school or club or go to an agility or obedience dog show. Or, I would suggest you watch a good video on dogs. Maybe you'll never have a dog, or really want one, but it might help you appreciate why others love dogs and why dogs are useful and loveable animals.

Judging from your name, I am taking it that you are a Muslim. Just because the dog is not Halal doesn't mean it is everything you say it is. You've obviously never had a dog before. I have grown up with dogs all my life and I'm not from a farm. I live in the suburbs of a big city. As long as you properly train your dog, you will have a great experience and receive a lot of unconditional love. There are many different breeds that do not smell or lose hair. It just depends on what type of dog you are looking for. Before you go knocking dogs, you should do some research and get to know a few.

Whats the point of having kids then? Kids smell, lose hair, eats loads of food, time consuming and they also bite and some kids never shut up. But we still have them and we love them. My husband was deployed and my dog was my compainon while he was gone. He let me know when someone was at my door, he also cheered me up when I was feeling down. If you have a big dog they probably will eat alot, but small dogs don't. Just because you don't like dogs or animals doesn't mean there are not people out there that do.

It's just too bad that you never were able to experience the close relationship that a person can have with a dog. Maybe if you did you wouldn't think they were horrible animals. But I'm glad that you'll never get one since you don't ever deserve one.

Here's some food for thought on your comments:

-Dogs might smell but so do you without a regular bath.
-You shed hair everyday too and if you weren't groomed regularly would lose more.
-I'll bet you eat more than a dog does!
-I'm sure your mom or whoever took care of you when you were young would say you were time consuming too!
-You talk, they bark
-Your method of defense is hitting, theirs is biting

Are you saying that if a dog DOESN'T live on a farm it doesn't smell or lose hair or eat or consumes your time or barks? Humans smell sometimes and lose hair and consume your time and eat your food as well. There are all different breeds suited to all different lifestyles as well as there are all different people with different lifestyles. No one is asking you to have a pet dog - some people love dogs. You need to do what's right for YOU in your life. That is why they make chocolate and vanilla.

Dogs can be unconditionally friendly.
Many of the traits you mention could apply to humans too. OK, I've not met a human who barks like a dog but if you've ever associated with children you know young ones can bite until they're taught not to do so.
I don't think you have to live on a farm to have a dog. I do wonder about people having pet dogs and leaving them alone in a house/apartment all day. The dogs must be so lonely and bored.
I also wonder whether people carefully consider the type of pet dog they get: size of dog for the size of the home; size of the yard; suitability with children; time to care for it, play with it, groom it, walk it regularly (not just for toilet purposes but for proper exercise too); costs of food, vet's fees, medicines, etc.

I have a 90 lb. Doberman Pinscher & live in a apartment. I still get him out to run as much as possible. You are right about farm life would be ideal for his exercise, but living on a farm is the only reason to have a dog?? Are you sure you're not talking about a horse, mule, or some other kind of work animal? My dog is my friend....always there for me when I'm happy, sad, or in between. Never questions my actions, & will defend me to the death. Good thing you're not getting a dog....you don't deserve one!

My dogs don't smell. Humans lose hair too -- just deal with it! They eat less than we do. Dogs are no more time consuming than anything else in life. If properly trained, they only bark to alert or warn you. My dogs have never bitten anyone!

Dogs love unconditionally and are wonderful companions.

That is your opinion. My dog gives me faithful friendship, alarming me whenever people that I don't know are around my home. He's my furry meteorologist, letting me know when storms are approaching, he keeps me company while the hubby is at work, he goes walking with me and the kids and I feel safer knowing that if anyone wanted to start something, he would bite them and bark at them. He does so many things for me that I don't mind the shedding, barking, poop patrol in the yard, and I sure hope that he does bite when I need him too. My guess is that where you are from you don't have them or have never been raised around them. That is fine, we are all subject to our environments. I have been raised with dogs my whole life and I wouldn't go without them.
