It is true that Holloween is a pagan holiday, so is Christmas, & new Years,, I myself don't have any children at home, & yes when They were young we did take them out, But I was very young in the Lord then, today we have 9 Grandkids, We don't take them out, Christmas is also a pagan holiday, Christ was born somewhere around Sept. To Oct. We do exchange gifts. I agreed Holloween represents evil, demons & witchcraft, if I had to do it all over again with my kids, I would not take them out, in fact the last 3 or 4 yrs. on Holloween we did not take them out, we just had some school friends of them here for a litle party, just like when I was working(I am Retired now) there was some holidays some religious people did not honor even though it was a holiday, they were very glad to take that day off with pay since it was a holiday my employer had.

I don't celebrate Halloween or Christmas. The only thing I do for Christmas is decorate, but not with santa clause stuff. Just lights and a tree. I do not buy gifts cause to me it just stupid to think I have to buy gifts once a year and then go in debt doing it. This year I am even going to do Christmas Eve different. I use to go to my grandmothers on that night but watching those kids open up gifts and not really care what they got cause they want more gifts they half way upwrap them and look for the next. So I am just going to spend it at home with my husband.

Mav celebrates Halloween because it's fun.
Mav wonder - do you celebrate New Years? Valentines?
Those are not 'of God'
Do you volunteer to work Labor day or Memorial day so others can take the day off?
Mav thinks if someone is going to invoke the name of God, one should be willing to go all the way.
To her, invoking the name of God as a reason without going all the way is taking His great name in vain.

I think we celebrate halloween as Christians for the candy aspect. I don't think I've ever heard my kids say "lets go trick-n-treating so we can be non-Christians for a night, or worship someone else" If you make the holiday anymore than just free candy then u have issues. Get real!

I typeclly do not observe Halloween, but remember the scripture, "what was indeeded for evil, God has made for good" in other words Halloween does not have to be about satanic things, like goblins, gouls, vipires, etc. but we can use it to share the gospel, try dressing up like a character from a Christian stroy or a Biblical character and pass out tracts and share the good news

That's your choice, but you're missing a HUGE witnessing opportunity. I'll bet you've never thought of it that way, huh?
While you make a perfectly good point, you must understand that such a "holiday" is what a Christian makes of it. If he or she uses it as a excuse to become involved in things we're commanded not to, then shame on them. But if he or she understands that Halloween is really just another day, except you get to dress up like a Power Ranger or a ballerina and get candy, then you cannot condemn it.
Romans 14 discusses this very subject:
5 One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks. 7 For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. 8 For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living. 10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
Peace.
EDIT: AMEN, "Mav"!

Celebrating something just means you take the literal meaning of something to be true!! I don't celebrate it...I'd only do it for the dressing up!! But out of my 16 years, I've never ever even been trick or treating once...it wasn't safe where I came from!! It's just fine if you do this for the fun and sweeties!!
