Well, though a gum's nutritional value is pretty much zero, research has shown that the motion of chewing a gum while taking tests or studying actually boosts your brain and makes your concentration levels hightened and more alert - which could ultimately be a benefit during a test. But don't chew it during a test on an empty stomach or if you're hungry, because that will result in your stomach secreting digestive enzymes, and either giving you stomach ache or making your mind more focused on food, which could take your concentration off of the test.

It's not brainfood, so to speak, but for certain people (ex. ADD) things like chewing gum, tapping a pencil, or tapping your feet, helps them concentrate and focus better.

Some gums contain the stuff that is in diet soda drinks, which is believed to cause brain cancer. If it is gum with real sugar, then the extra energy will give you a boost. Usually, teachers do not like you chewing gum.

Some teachers do not allow you to chew gum during tests- Gum helps you to stay awake, but that is about it.

Our teacher used to let us have mints, or jolly ranchers- the mints worked real well...

Good luck on your test!

Not sure about gum. It should help keep you awake, but sucking on a peppermint candy helps you remember things. I have had teachers hand them out before big exams.

You don't eat gum, you chew it and I wouldn't even advise that.
