Only in His own mind... I don't know of any phophesy he gave that came true NOT ONE! Most of the Book of Mormon is either copied directly out of the King James verision of the the Bible or are Bible stories where he changed the names and retold the story. All three of their Standard works (Other than the Bible) has been changed by them thousands of times.. Did God make that many errors? If he his story in JS2 in the PofPG is the truth he couldn't have possible had the B of M published in 1830.. There are so many problems with his stories and teachings that there is NO WAY he could be a prophet of God.. Now on to what the Bible say about the need to there to be a prophet to stand between the people and God, then I'll stop this sermon.. Jim

Hebrews 1:1-2
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

Yes. He restored God's church on the earth after man had destroyed it centuries before. Do you really think God would have condoned all the atrocities committed in His name in dark ages? The protestant reformers all saw problems with how Christianity was being maligned by man and governments. Most of them made comments that they were hoping for a day when the truth would be on earth again.

The Gospel had been corrupted by man and needed to be restored to offer hope for all mankind in the last days. Joseph Smith was the man whom God chose to restore it through.

Humble yourself, read, study, ponder and pray. That is how you will find the truth.

Was he a prophet? I suppose in the Mormons eyes he was. Is it true? Do research on the subject as I have for 3 years and see what you believe. I can tell you as far as relgion, I refuse to argue so I will shut up now.

However I will add that I am a Christian strong believer in the Lord our Jesus Christ who was sent here by His Father and walked among us as a man and died on the cross for our sins.

Latin Vulgate
Douay-Rheims Bible

Second Epistle Of Saint Peter
Chapter 2

1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be among you lying teachers, who shall bring in sects of perdition, and deny the Lord who bought them: bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their riotousnesses, through whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you. Whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their perdition slumbereth not. 4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but delivered them, drawn down by infernal ropes to the lower hell, unto torments, to be reserved unto judgment

11 Whereas angels who are greater in strength and power, bring not against themselves a railing judgment. 12 But these men, as irrational beasts, naturally tending to the snare and to destruction, blaspheming those things which they know not, shall perish in their corruption, 13 Receiving the reward of their injustice, counting for a pleasure the delights of a day: stains and spots, sporting themselves to excess, rioting in their feasts with you: 14 Having eyes full of adultery and of sin that ceaseth not: alluring unstable souls, having their heart exercised with covetousness, children of malediction
