Go to tools, internet options, privacy, then change your cookie setting to High. This should start to help.
Are you using a spam filter? That would help too.
You can also stop using that email address and forward a new one to the people you want to still contact you. Just abandon the old email with all the junk coming to it.

Here are a few ways:
Use a spam filter.
Use a spybot program.
Change your settings in your mail program.
Stop going to questionable sites.
Clear all the cookies and temp internet files from your pc by going to Tools, Options, History. Or Tools, Clear Browsing History.
Don't ever open any junk mail. Especially ones with attachments. Just click & delete or click & send to spam.

Check out my source for fre spam filters and other programs. Depending on your email provider, you can say what is spam and what isn't. Another thing is to try another a email program like outlook express, these programs often have another layer of spam guards and can filter out the rest of the spam mail. Setting your security under Internet options to HIGH can help but depending on what you do online it can become more of a headache. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions on this.

have tried everything I know of too.......did the unsubscribe bit only to realize that even when you do that your name is routed to another bunch of folks who use email address list
seems to me if you do not request it should not receive it - guess yahoo needs to learn how to respect peoples privacy too
