The Vatican bank has over a "TRillion" dollars in it and still lets non- money making schools in poor neighborhoods close .

The Catholic Church is in the business of saving souls and providing comfort and aid to those in need through their hospitals, homeless shelters, and schools.

There are a number of diocese that have filed for bankrupcy because of the sex scandal. Let us hope that the secular community picks up the slack when those schools and hospitals are forced to shut down.

The Catholic Church IS a business! The reason why St. Peter's Basilica exists is because the Church funded it with indulgences they sold to people they promised would be spared damnation if they forked over their money to them. Also, the Pope and some priests still live in the lap of luxury because of the money so many devout Catholics shell out.

MA number of problems have arisen in the Catholic Church over the centuries, which would have been the downfall of any business, or of any manmade church. But the Catholic Church continues to grow and prosper because of the protection of God, who said He would be with His Holy Catholic Church until the end of time, and that the gates of hell would never prevail against it. This means that even when its members fail, even when some of them are sinful and weak, God's Church itself remains holy, strong, and pure, for the Church of God is far more than the sum of its individual members, as human institutions are. It is a divine institution.
