Well you've certainly got the do gooders ranting again....
Don't get me wrong, i think what you did was perfectly right, i would have done the same...at the end of the day you don't really know who is actually beneath the cloth.
BUT....you know what these do gooders are like....you'll probably be reported by many of them.
But who cares???? you made me and many other people smile today...thanks.

Good etiquette?

That depends on the purpose for her visit. If she was acting like a religious zealot trying to peddle her religion, then sure: it's okay not to open your door.

If she is a neighbor asking to borrow a cup of sugar or flour or something like that, then I don't see why you can't open your door to that.
(Just make sure she doesn't have any C-4 strapped to her waist!)
(Get it?)

Hey, is this being insensitive?
Nah! All suicide bombers are muslim.
(I just had a thought: those guys who destroyed the Twin Towers...they just "strapped a jet around their waists", instead of C-4 explosive).

Not sure what a letter box is. But some religion's know that they don't accept other religion's. Especially if you are already in another religion or apart of another religion.

If you tell them that you are apart of another religion most of the times they will go away. But for other religion's we just don't answer the door since we are already regular's at a church and apart of a religion.

No. The proper procedure is to keep a sack by your door and put it on every time you answer the door in case it's a Muslim lady who might otherwise be offended. I hope this helps.

Very funny. Careful you don't get your head chopped off for making the joke though. And to some of the people above - GET A SENSE OF HUMOUR!

Perhaps now she understands how unnerving it is to speak to someone without a face... Fine etiquette, even if Emily wouldn't approve!

ROFL - no probably not but I definitely see where you're coming from and that would certainly get an interesting reaction if nothing else, huh? Nice one and hey, screw etiquette. Sometimes it sucks. :D

No matter how you answered the door someone would be upset about how you did it. What did she want if you didn't already know her what was she doing there "alone" at your door?

Is that the way you would greet all people who come to your door? If its not, then yes, it is bad etiquette. Does a persons apparel make them any less than a human ?
