You might not be trying to be rude but generalization is a rude concept. Not all of us are intolerant of other religions. I have been looking into the beliefs of many others so that I can try to not step on anyones toes with something I say. I do agree that many christians are that way but not all. And realisticly if one is judgmental about someone and their faith , then one has to question the truth of their convictions. Jesus plainly says do not judge lest ye also be judged. Everyone is intitled to their beliefs and should be respected for them even if they are not shared by everyone.

We try to convert because Jesus said to "go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you" and He also said "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned." Jesus also said "I Am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no man may come to the Father except through the Son," Jesus is the Son of God the Father.

well, the more people who believe the same thing you do, the more it justifies and strengthens your beliefs. Plus there is that collection jug they pass around, more people means more money. They are critical because they have too much time on their hands, and they are just the type that are self righteous enough to actually believe that they know best for everyone.

Some people find that religion gives them hope and direction in their life and they wish to share this with others. What they forget is that not everyone will take comfort or hope and simply believe in God. It's because they think they have a good thing, and want everyone else to know about it as well.

My dad says, if you were the devil, who would you be working on the hardest?
Don't let lowly people discourage you! Colossians 2:16 says, "Let no man therefore judge you," and Romans 14:13, "Let us not therefore judge one another any more, but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way."

I don't force my belief on people. But I know that hell is a real place and I wouldn't want even my worst enemy (if I had one) to even go there. As long as everyone is offered the truth and has a chance to decide for themselves, this is all I ask.

Christians do not try to convert anyone. What we do as Christians is what God instrusts us to do, which is share His word, and show them how they being spiritually lost, can find their way to Jesus and to their salvation. It is not a Christians's job to convert anyone or to save anyone. That is the job and the sole responsibility of the Holy Spirit. You are in no way forced to turn your life over to Jesus. You are just showed the way to Him.
To choose to accept Jesus is completely up to you. Where you spend eternity is the result of what you choose to do.

God does not want anyone to perish but, rather, that all would come to repentance. His desire is that all people would turn to Him and seek understanding of the truths of His Word. He promises that if a person seeks after God, He will reveal himself.
Christians want others to know the word.

When you have a complete belief system that answers all questions with simplistic answers that were made up centuries ago by men who thought the world was flat and that disease was caused by demons, you have to choice but to want to ram it down every-body's throat.

Why convert? It is part of Gods plan for all of His children to return to live with Him. But only of their own free will. Any "Christian" who uses coercion or force is going against God's will.
Why critical? Being critical is just human nature. Even in your question there is an implied criticism of Christians. Christ taught us to not criticize others:
Matthew 7:3-5 (King James Version)
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?.
Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
In this parable a mote refers to a splinter while a beam is a beam of wood. Christ is saying don't be concerned with other people's problems until you can take care your own problems. In addition the idea of the beam in the eye is something that completly obscures your view of other peoples problems and in this case the beam in the eye is a far bigger problem than your brothers splinter.
If any Christian has been critical of you then they need to consider the beam in thier eye. The beam of criticism is far bigger than what ever splinter is in your eye.
