Source Code of a file implies the program written in a language(for eg. C,Java, etc.) that in turn is a set of instructions and other programming constructs for a specific purpose. The source code is not an executable one, it however requires other files ( eg.linking to some DLL ) for its execution.

Your question is ambiguous, not all files have source code many of them contain only data like .txt, archive files like zip, tar, All image files,Movie files,Music files only contains data no source code.

Technically Only few files have source code and are generally called executable like .exe on windows and ELF on Linux, but other files may also be considered as having source code like web pages and scripts contained on them but technically these files does not contain source code as they do not contain any machine instruction within them actually these files only contains instruction for web browsers or other interpreters like jre.

Please append your question to get better answer.
