I'm taking a sports group to asia at the end of the year, due to family reasons on of the lads has dropped out. The travel agent has said that as the tickets were booked as a group he cannot cancel and has to pay the full amount. The tickets have not been issued or paid for yet, Is this the case? If he could cancel and there was a price increase for the rest of us he would be happy to pay the difference

It's highly unlikely that you will be able to change the ticket. Most airline conditions do not allow amendments of any sort once the booking has been made and paid for in full. That is why they're so pedantic about getting your name exactly right - because it cannot be changed afterwards.

However, if you are only at the deposit stage of the booking, your travel agent should be able to cancel and rebook for you. You may lose your deposit and you may have to pay a different price as the initial fare may no longer be available. If the flight is booked up, though, none of this will be possible, and you will just have to swallow the cost. In the future, it would be a good idea to purchase travel insurance as soon as you purchase your flight ticket. Then if you have to cancel because of family illness or similar, you may be covered and able to get your money back.

Have a look at the Condition on back of Form,I would have thought that if No Cash has been paid in Full he can Cancel but will probably loose his Deposit.
If it is a Medical reason, tell him to get a Certificate from his GP.

You should be able to alter this ticket- but check your t&c's first. If it can be altered it can only be by the lead passanger or the person that booked it.

You may find that charges will apply too- but if yoiu can change this ticket before it actually gets printed or the cost of these charges will increase!

I think that the ticket should be able to be changed, you would have to pay an administration cost though.

Is the travel agent just being lazy? Insist they contact the travel company and that they provide you with a copy of the answer. if you know the name of the travel company, it may be possible to contact them direct.
