When you stick your finger in it, you'll find that it feels wet. Extra cool because all that alcohol evaporates faster than water, but wet nonetheless.

I've had Absinthe from before the law changed (imported from God knows where) and the new USA versions. The difference between Absinthe and Scotch? At that price, I could have had a much better drink of Scotch. The feelings were exactly the same, there were no amazing or hypnotic or hallucinogenic effects, just the alcohol. Want proof? Go buy a bottle of Ouzo and pour it into a fancy bottle. Then do the whole absinthe routine with a group of friends and watch them be amazed at the effects of the "absinthe".

Just like cokie 999 said, depending on the country it comes from, it wil feel different! There are many different types and different strengths, but it all tastes like licorice! The stronger the better, though, you will see spots and such things. There is a certain Absinthe with opium in it, but it is illegal in most countries. Its a good feeling though!

Depends what country you are in. If traditional absinth is availiable (60-80% with wormwood) then it can bake you good. You will start seeing green circles and stuff. You wont start seeing fairies. its like being punched in the face. but in most countries like aus and probably the u.s its usually just a strong liqour and just makes you really drunk and a bit sick.

If your in Europe consider yourself lucky, it is illegal to sell it in the US and now we import into Canada, from France, the US issue is the wormwood issue, it is considered to be a narcotic and hallucinagenic additive.

Fir centurys the herbal mixture used wormwood, as far back as the middle ages, and it was a useful medicinal elixir for a number of conditions, and was use during the Black Plague to aid the suffering of the patients in the last stages of the disease. I have this from my unversity days thesis on middle age medicines and history.
