I have an Amer. fuzzy lop and he is one year old. the reason I dont want to have him neutered is because I dont live in the States and the vets here are totally inexp. when it comes to bunnies.

but is it true that would make him live longer

if you like your bunny and having it neutered will make him live longer then why are you asking us? lol

No - it won't make him live longer. The only real advantage to neutering him would be if he's aggressive or if you have a female rabbit too. We had a male Dutch and I started to neuter him and the vet said "don't waste your money." Unlike cats and dogs, pet rabbits aren't at risk of over-breeding. Neutering won't stop him from spraying, and if the vets are as bad as you say, it could kill him.

I would say that if your bunny is not coming into contact with other bunnies, then it isn't necessary.

Although your question about the rabbits living longer is true, according to the website I found. Still, is it worth potentially damaging your rabbit by an inexperienced vet just so he'll live a few more years? That's up to you.

YES, you should always spay or neuter your bunny. It will avoid many health problems down the road and also behavior problems. I had my male bunny neutered when he was 1 and he is now 8 years old and has always been healthy. ALSO, if you get him neutered, you could consider bonding him with a spayed female. Bunnys love to have another bunny companion.

If he is not around females, you run no risk of getting an army of bunnies. So leave him alone, nature made him like this, it is not some kind of illness, so neutering is not going to make him live longer. They say that for cats and dogs because it prevents cancer of the testicles and fights with other males, but it is unlikely that your bunny will have any of that. (Give him many carrots, they prebvent cancer too!)

No don't neuter if you want LOTS of babies, neuter if you don't. Of course, the rabbit will live longer won't have to go through all those pregnancies and milk feedings

No it's not true ha ha ha ha...... Having it fixed will not change it's life span. If it's not around other male bunnies you'll be fine (they fight to the death) or around female bunnies (because yes the ol' saying is true!)
