the angel Gabriel taught the words of Allah to the Prophet Muhammad over 23 years

Muslims claim that the content of the Qur'an was revealed to Mohammed by the Angel Gabriel in visions/dreams over a long period of time. He did not actually know it was the angel Gabriel, but a Christian relative of his told him that it must have been Gabriel. Some time after this he recited what he had seen heard. (He was actually illiterate) and the Qur'an was written by various of his learned peers. Later some disputes arose over various parts of it and the third Caliph destroyed all the existing copies and wrote copies of a "correct" version. No details exist of what the original versions contained.

'Islam', by the way, is what Muslims call their religion.

'Muslim' means dedicated or submitted to God. This is how they can claim that thr virgin Mary and even Jesus were Muslims, because they were Dedicated/Submissive to God the Fathers will.

First of all Islam isn't a person.
Second you could've found it out on any other website not to come to Answers and waste a question on this.
Now I am going to answer your question:
Islam got its book from Allah(GOD)
you could've known that if you thought a little

From Allah..Allah sent it as 'wahyu' to prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)...and Allah has guaranteed to preserve the Qur’aan.

Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Verily, We, it is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Qur’aan) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption)”

[al-Hijr 15:9]

Arch Angel Gabriel brought revelations from Allah to Prophet Muhammed(p) over a period of 23 years. This was compiled and recited over to the Prophet(p) before his death. The Third Caliph, Osman, made multiple copies of this original Qur'an and all other copies were burnt.

There is only one Qu'ran, the one that was revealed to the Prophet(p) himself.

Hope this helps.

In order to understand all about that its better to read the book or some introductry materials. In simple words, it is GOD's message sent to MOHAMMAD (saw) through his angle Jabrail.
There are many sites, giving detail about that but you can visit the following link and you will get detailed answers.
