If you take sleeping tablets every night you will become dependant on them. When you become dependant on them you will not be able to sleep at all without them. I have terrible sleep patterns and take sleeping tablets, but maybe three times a week and not two nights in a row. This way my body is not getting used to the drug so I will not become dependant on them. Also with dependency on a drug your body becomes tolerant to the drug which means you have to take more to get the same effect as you did when you first started taking them. If you can do without taking them every night, maybe every 3rd night then I think you could safely use them for a reasonably long time. If you need to take them every night, then I would seriously think about alternative therapy. You also need to go to a sleep clinic because there could be a physical reason you are not sleeping. You dont want to become dependant on them because a lot of doctors will not prescribe them for long term sleeping problems, so you are going to have a huge problem if your body has become dependant when you are forced to go off them. If you can have a really good sleep every 3 days, then you wont become dependant....try it, I think you may be surprised that you will be able to sleep the second night without them.

Just a "head up"...

Careful of people who start their answers with "you must". They are usually people who are stuck in a religion, cult or dogma of some sort and are just spewing "party line" or the company policy. One answer to everything. It's advertising and spam.

You will notice that to "surrender" to another person as most religions and cults want you to do will often cause all kinds of problems in your surrounding "friends, family, work" which will make "sleeplessness" look comparatively trivial.

There are all kinds of methods to induce sleep, from teas, to different practices such as "reading", or become accepting about what the next day will bring. Some people have different cycles so if you can't sleep, you could make use of the time to do things you always wanted to do but could not find the time such as research and write about "sleeplessness",

Joining a religion or a cult is NOT a "good answer". but you will notice that the cult will try and vote that solution as the "best answer" as little sheep that they are. I agree with meditation and prayer but not "surrender to a Person" hoping that that person will fix our problems. Meditate to empower yourself, not someone else or his "CULT". Careful of evangelists, proselytizers and salesmen who use "judas goats" to lure others to their "traps". They are here on this site trying to sell their product which will involve "giving up your power" to someone else.

You will notice them right away...The have a dogmatic answer to everything and it's a "one recipe fits all", like MacDonalds and Mass Marketers. If Christ, Buddha or Muhommed had all the answers and was a solution to all the problems, there would already be "no problems", like wars, in the world. That is not the case, even among the ones who follow these "wise guys"...Yes they're all MEN....No women can be GURU's in most of these "old boys" networks and cults. . Just like women don't make it to the "brahmaloka" (the Brighter World) in Hinduism.

Don't become a slave to someone else to fix a simple problem such as "Sleeplessness". Slavery is worse than that. And Zombie-ism is even worse. (when you just repeat what the "old boys" have told you to repeat)

you must consult a pschiatrist before you lose yourself. After your medication for some months you must stop taking pills.

You also try to do a wonderful meditation called sahaj marg which is a permanent cure to your problem also with out side effects.

thanks
