I have a couple questions for past or present seroquel users:

1. How long have/did you take it?
2. Did you gain weight while taking it?
3. I take 100mg at night before bed but the next day i'm quite tired until about 10:30 a.m., is this the way you were also?

4. What side effects did you have while taking it?

5. How did you manage to get off of it and be able to fall asleep at night without it?

I HAVE BEEN TAKING THIS FOR OVER 10 YEARS WITH GOOD RESULTS...AND YES I GAINED SOME INITIAL WEIGHT. THE TIRING SIDE EFFECT EVENTUALLY GOES AWAY. I T TAKES BETWEEN 6-8 WEEKS FOR YOUR BODY TO ADJUST TO IT. THIS IS AN ANTI-PSYCHOTIC (MOOD STABILIZER) MEDICATION WITH SEDATING QUALITIES WHICH IS WHY IT IS TAKEN AT BEDTIME. YOU CAN TRY TAKING IT EARLIER AND GOING IN BED EARLIER AS WELL IF YOU NEED TO BE LESS TIRED FOR WORK. YOU WILL FEEL LESS TIRED IF YOU PLAN FOR A FULL 8 HRS OF SLEEP. ALSO CONSIDER TALKING TO THE DR. ABOUT POSSIBLY LOWERING THE DOSE KEEPING IN MIND YOU SHOULD STILL PLAN FOR 8 HRS OF SLEEP.
SHOULD YOU DECIDE NOT TO TAKE THIS MEDICATION ANYMORE YOU MUST BE WEENED OFF BY YOUR DR.
IF FALLING ASLEEP AND STAYING ASLEEP IS AN ISSUE TALK TO YOUR DR ABOUT TRYING TRAZADONE INSTEAD.

BEST OF LUCK,
DODA

YOU WILL FEEL LESS TIRED IF YOU CAN ALLOW FOR 8 HOURS OF SLEEP WHILE TAKING THIS MED.

1) I've taken Seroquel for about 2 years
2) No
3) I take 100 mg at bedtime and 25 mg in the morning. Through a lot of work with my doc, we've figured out that if I don't take it every night at the same time, or if I skip a day, then I have that tired feeling. When I'm on a regular schedule, the A.M. tiredness isn't a real problem.
4) No noticeable side effects from Seroquel directly, but I may have some minor vision problems from an interaction between Seroquel and Lamictal.
5) N/A

I took Seroquel for about two weeks. I did not gain weight (I was not on it long enough for it to cause weight gain). My friends who have been or still are on it have not had the weight gain problem. I took 50mg at night. It made me tired, which was what it was suppose to do, and it also worked for my hallucinations! Yeah!

The bad thing is that it lowered my blood pressure. I passed out and wrecked my car on the way to work one morning. My blood pressure in the ambulance was 65/35! (Normal is about 120/80). I was not that far from death. According to my psychiatrist, this is NOT a common reaction to the drug. Just be careful. I take Zyprexa now for the hallucinations and it helps me fall asleep too.

Have you tried Ativan? That's an anti-anxiety drug that can also help.

1. I took it in 1987 and 1988

2. No, I did not gain weight

3. It made me very, very tired and I started going to bed at 8pm when I went to bed at 10pm or 11pm back then usually

4. Retrograde ejaculation and felt stoned for weeks while on it

5. They switched me to navane instead and it just took longer to fall asleep.
