I have a pioneer 5650 cd player, and a pair of 6990 speakers.

I want to add a subwoofer and a amp to this system, i don't want to ling the speakers to the amp, just the woofer.

What amp do you sugest ? I have a JBL 1000 woofer in mind.

Can i cut the bass of the speakers from my 5650 and give it all to the woofer ? how would be the result ?

Is JBL1000 a soft or hard woofer ? does it give enough vibration ?

Interesting questions.

By amplifying the rest of the signals (eg, Front, Rear, Sub) seperately, you can isolate frequencies and such using a graphic Equaliser. It's worth doing, as it sounds soooo sweeet. Kenwood do one. Short of this, you can't isolate the bass to your other components (well you can with cheap components called bass blockers, but they suck, I don't advise it).

The JBL woofer you chose is a good one, and well worth the money. Just make sure that in choosing your amp to power it that you choose one rated at at least 100w more (peak, or 25w RMS more) and install it running at no more than 90% power, as if it tries to go over 100% (quite possible with spikes, at 90%, it will probably spike near 100% regularly), it will square off the waves and put extreme pressure on the subwoofer, causing damamge.

Good luck with the install.

Pioneer used to make a four channel amp that you could bridge to one channel that made some killer power. So start w/pioneer specs, it will match the rest of your components. Concider the conrtoll features of matching them also, you might be able to get this controll built in.
