I have a pioneer 5650 cd player, and a pair of 6990 speakers.

I want to add a subwoofer and a amp to this system, i don't want to ling the speakers to the amp, just the woofer.

What amp do you sugest ? I have a JBL 1000 woofer in mind.

Can i cut the bass of the speakers from my 5650 and give it all to the woofer ? how would be the result ?

JBL P-1000? That's a decent woofer. Very durable.
Any of the major brand amps are likely to be fine. To spite all the arguing there are groups of similar quality level amps from various manufacturers. Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood, Eclipse is one such group. You could go with Pioneer for consistency, or just look for the best bargain.
You'll want an amp with max power close to but below the 260W continuous power rating of the P-1000.
There are some nice single channel 'digital' amps out there. Be careful though, some cheap companies throw the word digital on the box with no true meaning. A digital amp has a pulse width modulated (PWM) output rather than a normal analog. This works well for subs.
Do you only have the 2 6990s? 6x9s can usually do a decent job of handling bass down to 100hz, and are so so down to 80hz. Choose the box for the P-1000 with that in mind. An infinte baffel set up will handle 80~100hz better than sealed if you have to cover that range. But if your OK with the 6x9s covering down to 80 you'll get better sound out of a vented enclosure. You may want to try and run 4 6x9s to keep the volume up.
So suggestions: JBL CS300.1 or Pioneer GM-7200M,

Just go out and find any mono amp... class D or prefferably class X... depending on the what's a JBL 100 needs (I'm guessing 1000) get an amp that's like 800 watts just so you don't blow your woofer

I'm not familiar with the JBL 1000 or an amp to run it, but, you can take out bass from your stock speakers by adding capacitors to their wiring.

1000w amps are used for a 4 speaker system like 2 door speakers and 2 subs. depended on your set up that is what you need to keep in mind. if u just need to power a sub you can get a 200w amp, but if it is a stonger sub, like a kicker wit 400w rms , then you have to get at least a 400w amp, cuz somedays you might want to blast to the limit and others you might want to beat a lil bit

you need to amp it all and bigger the better what can you afford ?????

the bigger the better because any speaker and go to any volume what ***** them is the power suply to low so you amp it to stop serges and power lose (heating of wire)and (voltage changes in the wiring the neg going possitive with a good that all stops and good wiring so go for gold and you will never look back the bigger the wires the better the sound and so on and so

yes you can but the bass from your speakers. it's called either your buiilt-in crossover (built into your HU) or if you don't have one in your HU, a crossover to filter out anything below, say, 125 hz or whatever. have fun with your new stereo system.
