Is this normal when you dont take them or does this mean i cant cope without them?

It is normal to feel a little anxious and feeling down after a few days with out this med in the blood.

But please get your script filled as soon as you can.

Many years ago I was on Prozac, and had ran out of medication, and had to wait to see my GP, to get a new script. Seriously not much fun being with out the Prozac.

GP said I had started to go through withdrawal, and I had to build up the dose, back to what was my normal dose was, I was taking 80mg (3 tablets) a day. It took about two weeks to feel better.

I eventually had to stop this med, and had to come of it slowly, and it was not nice, headaches, anxiety fearful etc. Had to be free of Prozac before starting new medication.

Hi - The first 3 or 4 weeks are quite uncomfortable when first taking Prozac. You can experience headaches, nausea and a dry mouth. It is really worth persevering with these symptoms because at the end of the 3 -4 week period you do really start to feel better. Your mood will be lifted and you will learn how to manage your feelings. Prozac is not a magic cure but it goes along way in helping you cope with your feelings and makes you feel positive in dealing with issues that perhaps you couldn't deal with before. I have been on Prozac - once for 2 years then came off it but had to go back on it again this year. My GP told me that there is no shame in having to take Prozac and that sometimes there is a need to go back onto it and is part of managing the condition. Because people can't see anything physically wrong with anyone suffering depression, they do not realise it is an illness just the same as having a cold, measles etc. We all need help sometime and Prozac is just another medication for an illness. Hope you feel better soon - take care Kind regards Birdie

Prozac like most drugs of that type are really to help you get over the worse of a bad situation, anxiety & the symptons connected are all part of a process which in the long run will sort out that which at the moment you are unable to do,there is nothing to worry about here if you just let your doctor know the reason why when you ran out & this will give him a clearer indication as to what the next move should be.One day you will look back & realise why what happened did, recovery takes time so have faith you will conquer what is ailing you.Good Luck.

I used to take Prozac and occasionally missed a few doses due to my bad forgetfulness. I used to get the same symptoms and was told it was quite normal as i'd missed a few days. The fact that you missed a few means that the levels of the drug were getting low. The symptoms were due to the sudden withdrawal, as Prozac shouldn't be stopped suddenly. It doesn't mean that you can't cope without them.

you aren't supposed to just stop taking a med. Your body is a little confused and under withdrawl. It messes up your body/emotions because prozac affects the neurotransmitters in your brain. Anytime you take an antidepressant, make sure you don't miss any doses. If you have to stop the meds, you need to slowly wean off of it, but consult your doctor.

GO and get some more a.s.a.p... prozac stays in your system for about a week but if ur worrying about it then that will make u anxiuos! calm yourself down make an appointment a.s.a.p...explain u need some more, and next time get some more before u run out

you can cope without them but u need to come off them slowing in order too! not just suddely stop taking them!

If you have taken Prozac as prescribed and you have only missed a few days you should still have enough of the drug built up in your body.Chances are you making yourself anxious.don't worry about the few doses you have missed.relax and begin taking the drug as prescribed.have a great day.

Missing 3 days shouldn't send your body into withdrawl (psychological) and physical withdrawl from Prozac is not possible since it's not a controlled substance. However, depending on what you're taking it for, you may be noticing that the effects are fading. The tearfulness and anxiety are likely your psychological response to knowing that you haven't taken it since the drug is likely not entirely out of your system. Call in your refill, though in order to maintain the effect that you need from taking it.

This is normal. Your GP should have advised you that you should not "just stop taking them", you have to be weaned off them. I have had spells of taking Prozac and have never had an addiction to them.
