And if those were the only two choices of how our government was run and/or society was lead by, which would be better for our nation? And of your answer, why do you think that?

Well, China is lead by an Athiest government and murder and so forth is illegal there. So that is not a valid argument of how things are.Though I agree that our nation is guided by a mostly religious society made up of mostly Christians. The question is targeted at how things WILL be based on the direction we are going.

The chances of the US becoming an "atheistic government" are right about the same as the chances of us becoming Islamic, or of establishing Flying Spaghetti Monsterism as the national religion.

But at the same time, the right-wing propagandists have managed to convince a lot of people that Christianity is backed into a small corner here and that they're a tiny noble last defense against a secular or Islamic takeover. It's amazing what people will believe.

Sadly, "Dunce" (above) is probably serious in his claim that having laws makes us a theocracy already. Perfect example.

Well I'm not American but believe many Western countries have laws based on Christianity and the 10 commandments. I am not against all of these as many are merely morality issues, and can be applied to people of all faiths. I believe that governments should be neither atheistic nor theistic, rather just simply governments, performing their administrative, economic etc functions.

Secular. Hopefully it goes straight there and stays there. I don't have a problem with the Freedom of Religion, for all people... but I'm tired of people saying they want certain laws in there to make America a Christian Nation again. It never was a Christian Nation. Personally, I wouldn't want to claim that even if I were a Christian. Look at this place!

Yes I think that the U.S.A. government is a crackpot government. Next time you get a chance vote bush out of the WhiteHouse. He's a f#ck up. Understand that the United States Of America has been put on hit list of probably, more than likely, positively of every country world wide. Americans, cool. American government sucks ***. The end.

Both.In the short run leading to theocracy and in the long run leading to atheistic government/ society.

Definitely a theocracy. Religion is EVERYWHERE. It's a pre-requisite for presidents to be Christian. Even JFK's catholicism was a risque move when he was elected.

I personally think that religion was probably built in by the forefathers. I really don't like it. I think that an atheistic government would be better for all people involved. Why? Well, the fact is that atheists by and large don't care about other peoples' religion. It wouldn't be a factor in lawmaking--it shouldn't be anyway.

If you haven't already done so, read "The Handmaiden's Tale".

I think a theocracy would be even more corrupt than an atheistic government. It's far more conducive to hipocracy.

I'm not a US citizen, but you might be interested in an outsider's view.

In my opinion it's leading to a theocracy. Which is a shame, as I believe that religion should be a personal matter which belongs at home and in church (mosque, synagogue etc).

I don't think the US is leading toward an atheistic gov't. I think it would be nice if there were more diversity in government and everyone didn't HAVE to be Christian...there ARE other religions in the world AND in the US.

The dunce is aptly named. How can you possibly conclude that there can be no morality without a god.
The best form of government is secular and hopefully with a leader who does't believe all his decisions are made with god's blessing.
