Depending on the level of intoxication I would say Yes! I'd at least use my cell to call for help and stay with the victim until the ambulance/police arrived. If there were any interaction with the police I would probably call a couple friends or family members to come to the scene, to drive me and my car home. I think the adrenaline from helping would sober me up pretty fast but I don't think the authorities would think the same way.

I clearly see your "quandary", in such a (hopefully hypothetical) scenario.

I see your "fear of getting caught for DUI" is the one that is most pressing, upon your mind.

If you are there when the police and ambulance arrives; and, IF the police officer smells your breath as you slur out your statement as a witness....well, then. I see what you are most concerned about.

But, you can call 911 as you "zoom on by" in your inebriated condition. Just make sure to turn the steering wheel to the left--not to the right--as you pass on by. Otherwise, you will plow right into them!
(I am trying to get you to see how dangerous YOU are, driving impaired! Know what I mean?)

Yes, I would stop to help. For one, someone could be seriously injured. I would call 911 and stay there until they arrive. I would not be able to just drive past the scene and not help. That would weigh on my consience for a long time.

For heavens' sakes, why has nobody pointed out yet that by stopping, you'd also have stopped drinking and driving? There's nothing illegal about being drunk by the side of the road.

So, yes, of course, and without worry.

yeah, being drunk doesn't mean that i don't know the difference between right and wrong. anyone who wouldn't stop, wouldn't stop even if they were sober. unless I'm passed out drunk, I'm going to stop and make sure everyone is okay. plus, a cop is going to be more concerned with the people in the accident, not witnesses-so why be a cowered?

Good question. Helping could get you arrested.
However, any 'witness' to an accident needs to offer assistance.

Definitely. You have to be able to live with yourself. If someone was killed you would never be able to forgive yourself, thinking, perhaps if I had stopped I would have gotten help sooner.

No. Just call 911.

Beacuse Justice is blind, meaning you're busted too.

You have to stop. It is your duty as a fellow human being...
