For swelling, you want to take ibuprofen, which is an anti-inflammatory as well as a painkiller. Be careful not to overdo it though, as ibuprofen is one of the most damaging drugs to your body in the event of an overdose. No more than 800mgs every 4 to 6 hours for adults.

For rinsing out your mouth, I recommend hydrogen peroxide. Dilute it with an equal amount of water, though--it's too strong as it comes in the bottle. Hydrogen peroxide is a strong antibiotic, and doesn't have a harsh taste like Listerine, etc. After the hydrogen peroxide, you can gargle with warm salt water to help ease the pain a little, or apply an pain-killing ointment like Orajel, which has worked wonders for me.

Advil, because the motrin is an anti-inflammatory. It sounds like you may have an abscessed tooth and you need to see the dentist.

Swollen indicates infection, the pain killers wil just ease the pain, you need antibiotics for infection...Seems like a trip to the dentist is in order!
Mouth wash with salty water (small pinch to a glass of warm water) or an antibaterial mouthwash (more expensive but not particularly more effective).

I use tylenol for my swelling. You can use a salt water mix using warm water to rinse, or use listerine. You should try putting an ice pac on your face when you have time.

Advil and Tylenol are for pain relief so I would suggest Aspirin...and a trip to the dentist.
