Gday,
I sorry to hear that you can't have a dog, I've always had dogs in the past and when one wasn't in the house, it was quite lonley. I take it that your young, so some suggestions for you. If you can't have a dog at home, have you thought about advertising yourself in the local paper as a dog walker - you know some people have dogs as companions like old ladies and such, but they really can't get around and walk their dogs, that's where you could come in and help in your spare time, or another option is to volenteer at the local dog home, cleaning, brushing and walking, this may make the tempation of having your own dog more, but you will be helpping a lot of dogs who have lost their companion. If you can proove to you Mum that by working with dogs, you have the knowledge to look after your own, she may come around and say it's okay to have a dog. Their are a big reponsibility, like having a child in the house. If you havent had a dog before and you are given the thumbs up to get one, I suggest do not go straight in a get a puppy, as a puppy is very hard work, give an older dog a chance, and you will find that Mum will see that you can take care of your dog. Then at a later date get a puppy as company for the older dog. See how you go and I hope you can get a dog soon, if you can show to Mum you are ready. Best wishes, Mezz

Aw you poor thing, your mum must be very strong to resist, in our house we currently have 1 dog, 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs, 1 rabbit and 2 fish. Luckily me, my hubby and our kids are all animal crazy!
If I were you I'd ask her if there is anything you can do to change her mind. Every birthday and Christmas just keep on asking for the dog, save up your money to go towards the cost of getting it. Maybe you know someone who has a dog that you can borrow? Dogs really are a lot of work, especially puppies, are there any little kids in your house? If not maybe you could talk her round to letting you get a dog from the pound, that way she can feel good about 1. letting you get what you want and 2. saving a poor poochy from at best living in the pound or worst being destroyed. You can find some lovely dogs in the pound, but I'd be especially wary if you have small brothers or sisters.
Remember though, she is the one who would be taking care of the dog while you are at school and if she is at work all day then maybe it is nicer not to have one.
If the worst comes to the worst, would she let you have a hamster or a rabbit something like that? You can get some nice indoor cages now for them and maybe you could keep it in your bedroom? Be some nice company and very cuddly!
Good luck = )

this is the phrase I've hearded about since a was a child..
..I was always asking for a dog..
you must be patient and you have to insist on this.. to persist with your cause.. if you continue without stopping every time you can, one day you'll have your own puppy, for sure. :)
it's better if you start with doing good actions so that your mother will think that you're responsible enough to take care of someone else.
And remember that a dog is not a toy.. so you have not just to go outside with him several times a day but also if he's ill you have to go first to the vet.. and if you want to go on holiday remember that not everywhere a dog is accepted..
I have an english bulldog and I can tell you that it is a big responsibility to have a dog.. but it is also so sweet and tender and fantastic and enjoyable and funny and wonderful and marvellous and super and so cool and satisfactory and fantastic and pleasant and agreeable and beautiful (and so on and on..)
to have one..
good luck!
hoping you'll soon realize your dream! :)

Right were to start: there is the door dont let it hit you on the way out and then get a dog, OR follow the house rules would you like a dog in ur house if you hated them????????? stop being selfish and think about others. Your dad got it right and good to him his WIFE comes first.

i am afraid you will have to wait until your older and moved out of the family home a dog isnt a toy to be discarded so you will have to wait until you can afford time and money to take care of one properly...you can always adopt a dog in the local shelter you will be able to go and visit and take it for walks but have none of the responsibility of owning one..this may be the best option as you cant have a dog at home...it will only cost you a few pounds donation ask your dad if this is o.k. first....

Sometimes dogs just like to chew. you should tell your mom about it and try to put your stuffed animals in a high place in your room or in your closet. if you don't want it to bite you you should slowly spend time with it every day until it dosen,t bite you. and ma by you should spend time with it with your mom and ma by it will let you pet it. also If you just train it to chew on bones or chew toys it wont chew on your stuffed animals. but i think the first thing you should do is tell your mom. also try to be more doniment and not so submissive. and maby the dog will learn you are in charge of it not it incharge of you. You should scold him if he ever tries to chew the up.

You are going to have to wait until you have your own place. In the meantime see if you can volunteer at your local pet rescue centre where you can learn about, look after and walk all the lovely dogs!

Try asking for a kitten or a cat! They're easier to take care of and you can leave them for a weekend, not like a dog. Good luck!
