The rules for the sparring I do are:
Kicking allowed above groin anywhere (including head and face)
(Punching only to torso-not to head)
Round goes for 2 minutes and whoever scores most points wins
OR You can win by knockout by kicking to head.

I was at a tournament yesterday and got really tired half way through my second fight.
What is the best way to train (Both strength and cardiovascular) for this type of sparring?

PS I am 15 years old, about 175cm tall and weigh nearly 70 kg (Sorry don't know in pounds)

please don't give me diet tips as I can only eat what my mother feeds me

Endurance training, especially cardio, will help increase your stamina. But don't neglect your technique. Practice with sparring partners as much as possible to develop both. It does no good to still be fresh at the end of the match if you've been outscored.
At 15, you should have no problem getting yourself in shape. I didn't start continuous sparring until I was in my 40s. There were no age brackets, just weight classes, so I had to compete against guys in their 20s. Good luck.

You could do the normal exercises like jogging, swimming, bike riding. How about doing something like BodyCombat (aka Tai Bo) with weights, both ankle & vest. That way you're actually doing an aerobic style based on the Martial Art's and with the added weights you're building up muscle. Since an average class is about an hour, a couple of 3 minute rounds shouldn't be that difficult.

You could also increase the amount of lessons you go to and ask your sensei if he'll will allow you to wear weights in class.

Hope this helps.

1. Jog a block and then sprint a block. Repeat this cycle until you reach 3 minutes. Walk for 30 seconds and repeat twice. That will simulate three 3 minute rounds. If you can do that easily, you can spar for two 2 minutes for sure.

2. Do three 3 minute rounds of full power kicking on a heavy bag. This again will be intense and get you in shape quickly.

Be Blessed

If your actual rounds last for 2 minutes you should train with 4 minute rounds. Also, try running sprints for endurance.
You need to do at least a 1/2 hour of cardio exercise 5 days a week. Jogging counts.

There are lots of ways to train. Good aerobic exercises include running, swimming & biking. Swomming has the advantages of being low impac & working a lot more muscle groups. You also need anaerobic training such as wind sperints. You can do the equivalent in the water or on a bike.

I assume you practice forms. Do you do them with maximum power? That is a good way to get stronger & improve your anaerobic conditioning. Weights & resistance excercises will also build strength.

The best way is to find a good coach and school.

You are rather young for such knock-down bouts. I hope this is a junior tournament that you are referring to. Fighting contact sports with adults can cause very serious injuries.
