Remove him/her from the smoky area immediately, take to a well ventilated area, keep him/her calm and encourage to breathe normally. If the child has any pre-existing respiratory conditions, or is struggling to breathe, loses colour, shows blueness around lips or is clearly in distress call for emergency medical help immediately.

It sounds like the child has reactive airway disease/asthma. You cannot "choke" on smoke, but your bronchioles can constrict and make it difficult for you to breathe. The child needs to stay away from smoke, and needs to see the doctor so that he/she can be given medication (a bronchodialtor-inhaler) to help open the airway up if he/she comes in contact with smoke.

remove the the smokey area
and if that doesn't help call 911
it would be the same thing as you would do if there was a fire and someone was having breathing problems b/c of the smoke

You have to take him to a doctor! You will give you the appropriate medicine! You have to keep him away from smoke areas and if you smoke in your family, you have to cut it! Take him to fresh air!
