If the situations is serious enough for you to place this question under the category of mental health, then you should think about what this relationship offers you. Try talk to him and if he doesn't change (which he most probably won't) walk away. I don't usually say that, but things usually tend to become worse after a while and not better unfortunately.

Who needs it? Life is too short for this crap. so many fish in the sea. You can find the right mix for yourself. Is he moral? Is he respectful? Is he truthfull? Is he loyal? Do you matter in his life?
All these questions should say yes, if they don't , dump him and move on.
Ask yourself this biggie: does the bad outweigh the good? That is a pretty good indicator for you.

Ask yourself the question..."Do I know him well ..do I understand him well enough "..??

sounds like the two of you aren't compatible..... if there is no understanding between the two of you........
you should at least be able to understand your partner a little bit....
