Boil the potatoes till they are soft, squash while garnishing with salt, pepper chillies, coriander leaves. Mould to the shape you want to, add stuffing if you like and roast or fry. Voila there's your potato tikkis.

"Sweet Potato Squash Casserole" - 4 servings

2 sweet potatoes
1 butternut squash
1 cup orange juice
1 tbsp. unsalted margarine
2 cinnamon sticks

Preheat oven to 375*. Cut sweet potatoes in half. Cut the squash in half vertically ; scrape out seeds. Put the vegetables, cut side up, in baking pan and bake, uncovered, until very soft - at least 1 1/2 hours. Scoop the potato and squash out of the skins, combine them, and mash until smooth. Put orange juice, margarine and cinnamon in small saucepan; heat, reducing until it is about 1/4 cup syrup. Discard cinnamon stick. Stir syrup into the mashed vegetables.

Don't know if this is what you wanted, but it sounds good.

This is my mothers method for preparing small winter squash:
Wash the squash
Cut the seed cavity in half
Remove the seeds
Wrap in foil for the oven or place skin side up in a covered bowl for the microwave.
Bake at 350F, or microwave, until the flesh is soft
Scrape out the flesh with a spoon into a mixing bowl
Season to taste with salt, pepper, butter, cinnamon (optional), and sugar(optional)
You can substitute olive oil, or any oil of your choice, for the butter
Mix it up like mashed potatoes and serve hot.

There is no such thing as a potato squash. Are you asking for recipes for squash and potatoes?

Boiling the squash tends to lose flavour, once peeled discard seeds and slice like you would with roast potatoes, sprinkle
with Olive Oil and season, if you want, could add garlic in with it.
Pre-heat oven Gas Mark 6 - 200oC approx 40-50Min's.
If you prick it with a fork and it is very soft, then it is cooked.
Good Luck!
Lain.
P.s Be careful when you peel it, really really hard, watch your fingers.
