I know that YOU probably can't. I probably can't, either, but my wife is Chinese and we were married in China. Now, I DO know that I can live there indefinitely on a tourist visa. Maybe even forever. But can I live there and legally work and support my family with it, or do I still have to get a Z (working) visa?

Forget all the misinformation. Until mid-September all bets are off. You will absolutely not be able to renew an L visa in China (or Hong Kong). Actually, many of the Chinese embassies/consulates offer a 1 day express service (if you pay a little extra) if you were to reapply.

You have to apply for the chinese work permit, If you have already found the job there better you apply now. You can also apply for the z visa after you arrive in China.
Good Lucky.

Yes you can, go immediately to China and work and stay forever.

Could you and your wife take the 39,000 Chinese illegal aliens we have in this country with you?

You see, they accidentally shipped themselves over in Cargo Containers and got off at the wrong port.

They need to go back to their home and you might just be the ride they were looking for.

Thanks for all you help.

Not legally, and if you get caught you will get jail time before you get deported with a 5 year reentry ban. I suggest you visit these three links before making a move...
