I currently have blonde highlights through my hair. I would like to dye it back to my natural color of dark brown. Is it ok to do this? I've read that before putting the dark dye on you've got to put red on first else it could turn out green?? Help??

i would just do it gently. go a little darker at first then next time a bit darker again. i thought hair went green when your going lighter never heard of it happening when going darker

I do this all the time with my hair. I have natural dark brown hair and occasionally I will put blonde highlights in it.

I've never had a problem dying it back to the dark brown. It always looks just fine. Never been green.

No I also have highlights in I dyed it back to my normal colour which is also brown and the only thing that happend is that where the highlights was the colour is a little bit darker then the rest of the hair but it still looks normal and nice. Try it nothing will happen

ok, listen-- the first thing u have to do is color ur highlights first with a shade a tad bit darker not by much- of the brown u want to use- this is usually called a "filler" then wait about 20-25 minutes then apply the brown shade to the rest of ur hair, wait the required time which is usually about 35-45 minutes then rinse the color out with cool water and shampoo, then condition, and style as u wish. good luck.

My friend had dyed blonde hair for years and she too changed to a brunette. She had to dye it red first as everyones hair has red tones in.Dont try and dye it straight to brown from being blonde it just dont work!!

You should dye it red first, but you only need to do the highlights if you only have a few, sometimes it wont go green, and you may be lucky but if your not and it does go green your going to have to spend alot of time and money getting it sorted out, its better to get it done professionally really.

I dyed mine from having to bleached blonde highlights back to my natural colour of chocolate brown, and it looks fine! Might be worth checking with an expert first though.

going darker wont do anything to your hair.
i did the same thing and it was easy. go to a Sally's beauty supply shop and get the dye and a lil thing of purple dye this well keep you hair from turning green. its a great thing to get. it is about the size of a key maybe a lil smaller and its in a plastic tube it looks like purple ink.

it will do the trick.

yeh you should dye it red first before going brown otherwise your highlights will be much brighter! i think blonde hair will go green only if you're going as dark as dying it black

i think you should be ok, but if you have highlights they will stay lighter than the rest of your hair, you are better to just put some darker slices of colour through your hair to even it out and let the highlights grow out.
