A couple of days ago my sister in law asked me to watch her son from 8:30-3:30 4 days a week i agreed to it how much do you think i should charge her what would be reasonable? Paying me some sort of fee didn't come into our discussion i think she thinks i'll do it for free? How do i bring up this topic and whats a good price to charge her for watching him. i'm not dumb but haven't ever charged someone for babysitting so i'm clueless as to how much. Any advice or input is much appreciated

Well i dont think i should do this for free we are kinda poor and the money would really help! So if she's out making money then why shouldn't she pay me a little fee?

Go 2 ur local H.R.A office & p/u the child care provider form & family daycare provider. There are 2 -licensed & non-licensed. Depending on her income the state may pay all or part of her childcare fees. If they part she is entitled 2 pay the difference. If she doesn't want 2 do it that way, look at the pay scale for a non-licensed provider & that should help u determine how much u should charge. You should consider becoming a child care provider if you love 2 babysit. Look into that, it's very easy 2 get your license if your providing service from your home. Watching children 4 parents 2 work is a job and you should get paid. Whether it's family or non-family ur providing a service.

When I watched my nieces and nephews, I never charged, however, becasue money was tight for us, I did request that my sister bring the breakfast and lunch supplies her kids would need, she always either provided the groceries for her kids, or gave me $50 to help with the purchasing of the groceries

are you doing a good job? If you are, and if you really care about the people you're taking care of, then ask her what she wants to pay you. She'll give you a really reasonable charge if she really cares about your effort and the children. By the way, no one said she's got to pay you in money if she can't afford it--- nothing beats a home cooked meal or returned service. :)
