I like it so far. I would start by giving the figure a back - maybe with a navaho blanket over its shoulder (dont ask me why I see a blanket)and let it curve down on the side because right now the subject matter is way too centered. Draw the back and then decide what color. It might need to be bright or really dark - to appear dominant or heavy - to draw the eye away from the center. Then, see where the painting is telling you to go. If you don't know, then post the question again. Have fun. Keep up the good work.

Hi I teach painting and drawing. here is what i think.
May your whole painting be a "problem" to work on, not just the face. It seems to me that you are a begginer, and I think that you are a talented. So instead of giving you idea what would I do, I would be more happy if you would decide! I will give you some tips hoping that it helps...look after different kinds of composition. It is easier to find info on composing in photography, than in painting. Photography composition rules are usefull for painters too. Also, as you composition is definitely not a central one, maybe look to what did Edgar degas do in his paintings..he has some amaising composition. Think in color, line, spots, composuition, expressive or gentle brush movementrs...well this much. Hope to see your painting finished too.
good luck.

Are you sure this isn't a drawing instead of a 'painting'? It doesn't look like it's paint of any kind.
As to your question only you can really answer this. Quite often I start a painting with just a concept and I'm not sure exactly what it will end up looking like until it's finished. I just have learned to trust my instincts and I just start doing the art and let the painting go in whatever direction it wants to go subconsciously.

How about putting the head in a jar, like in Futurama or Island of Doctor Moreau? It could be called "Rude Awakening"... The background doesn't really matter... It could be museum shelf, or a laboratory, or just a futuristic desert.
On the second thought, you don't really have enough space on top to put it in a jar. Hmmm... How about adding something robotic coming out of the neck? Like metal spider legs, or complicated wiring...

You should make her a vampire, with long black coat, scary background. Or this could be a painting of a calm women after a day in hell (working or studding the whole day). Send me a link to view your painting after you finish it

You can at least make it a two-eyed horror.
