A friend of mine says that since the American Revolution, there has not been one single national peoples' revolution that has been successful. His examples include the French Revolution. I think there's got to be at least one. Please help me win this bet!!!!

The Philippine Revolution of 1986 when the Marcos dictatorsip was toppled through a bloodless coup.

Cuba is still surviving. Also the communists in China, although they came to power following a power struggle rather than a revolution. Iran is another example (1979 revolution). What ur friend should have said instead is almost all revolutions deviate from the original causes/hopes after a few years. In other words "revolution eats its own children"

What? that's silly. i call your attention to Russia, 1917, and China in the 30s and 40s. Don't forget Cuba. Then of course Pathet Lao in '75. are you seriously forgeting Iran, 1979?
