The japanese have a poetic way of describing events and techniques. to the western mind it reads like majic, but in reality the cloaking you speak of is nothing more than deception of the human psychology. mind tricks, taking advantage of the light, the dark, the noise around you, angles, reflections, moon, dust, etc etc. they were killers who knew how to get close through understanding the flaws in human perception.

an example would be if you heard a kock at the front door, you would assume someone was there, when how do you know they are there or not. you heard the knock, but they may now be running to your back door. perception is an illusion we create as we go along, assupmtion after assumption.

there is no true majic. only illusion.

Ninja used camouflage tactics. Another thing they did very often was dress as a servant to sneak into places. Yet another trick is one ninja was a dwarf ( small person to be politically correct). he was the most successful ninja ever because he could be snuck into so many places.

Magic cloaking ability, I think not. What you are asking for is camouflage, hiding and disguises.
In my martial arts system we tend to focus on things like defense and offense vs. sneaking around and hiding. As such my advise is to find a real martial art system and study it instead of wasting time on an old system of hiding. I just don't get it, what is a the appeal of ninjitsu besides the thrill of telling people you are a ninja (which a real ninja would never do).

There is no such thing. Try getting out from in front of the TV and into the real world. Any spy or soldier uses techniques the ninja would have used. Where the soldier uses camouflage and concealment, the spy uses disguise and hide in plain sight techniques. To the untrained eye, you don't need to use any techniques. People tend to not see things they don't expect to be there, and often don't bother to see things that are there anyway because they are so wrapped up in their own day to day routine.
