You should never go to bed feeling hungry, but you shouldn't have a huge meal either. A light snack would be ok about 1-1.5 hours before you go to bed. Your body can't deal with being told to sleep when it is busy digesting food. A meal late at night can't be burnt off efficiently while you are sleeping and you will store more fat than if you had had the meal 5 hours earlier.

Unless its a must, it is better to avoid eating anything around 30-45mins before going to sleep. A glass of milk often does the trick of filling your stomach and giving you Good sleep. However, if you've got weak stomach like mine, avoid that too.
If you are hungry, its better to eat, do something calming, like reading a book, mild yoga etc (not watching TV I'm sorry, audio and visuals together do the exact opposite) for about 15mins before falling asleep.

The foods that you eat needs 3-4 hours to be digested. But you can take low calories food if you really hungry like chicken soup, take in a small portion. Or just drink a glass of low or non fat milk. That can make you feel full!

It is recommended to eat a high protein, complex carb snack 30 to 45 minutes before bed, and don't overeat. You don't want to go to bed hungry or full.

Hey, if you're hungry, go for it!
You might have trouble falling asleep depending on what you eat, though.
I do it all the time and nothing has happened to me.
