I use Umberto Giannini Curl Friends, from Boots. I costs around £4 each for the shampoo and conditioner, they also do a mousse, hairspray and a scrunching jelly. The mousse is really good and is not crispy at all. It also smells divine, I have not had a bad hair day since using this range.

I have exactly the same problem...i ended up straightening it then curling it for AGES! which gave me really BAD hair.
Try using Johnson's baby shampoo and conditioner, then a bit of frizz ease for curly hair (not the gel the mousse) and let it dry naturally,

Matrix curl life contouring milk is really great...I recommend you use the shampoo and conditioner too. you wash adn condition...towel dry and put a dime sized amount from roots to tips and then diffuse hair, once diffused reapply a small amount to your hands and scrunch. Works great!

Go with my little trick = get to your late 20's, look at your bald Dad, realise you might not have many years left of curly locks, get the clippers, apply the grade one attachment, whip the curls off! Oh, you're a girl aren't you....! Um...GHD's!?
