I am now 44. After 32 years of pulling out my hair, eyelashes and eyebrows, I no longer pull. I have been free of pulling for 6 months now. I take Prozac (60 mg day), Valium (1/2 of 5 mg twice a day, sometimes none if i'm not anxious or shaky) and Concerta (36 mg) was added after I continued to pull. I seem more focused on other things now that I am taking Concerta. Don't know why but has drastically changed my life for the better.

First thing, you are not a bald freak. You suffer from a disorder called, oh, uhm, trichollimania....something like that. It's very common and you are not alone. I engage in cutting, a different variation of what you and I have, "Self Mutilation." Most medications are the best to treat these , disorders. I go through periods where no cutting is fine, then I have to cut, and can't escape the urge, desire, need. Therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and coping skills are things you need to look at. Also look on amazon, you can find books about the different disorders, and it helps to understand what you have. Good luck, I wish you light, love, happiness, health, and HOPE. You can get better. So can I.

Hi Fynn
You know my little sister used to sit and do it all the time. She was left with a bald patch on the top of her head and we even made fun of her,(i know that wasn't nice of us)but we were all kids. Its just got to the stage were when you find your self board you just reach for your hair and tug on it so really its a habit. I am glad that you have stop taken prozac as they are not good for you at all. Why dont you try setting your mind on getting a boyfriend, sit in your room a do your face make-up i mean practist and others things to keep your mind of the hair

There's actually a name for that... it's called Trichotillomania. I have an ex-girlfriend who had it. She even tried yanking off my goatee at one point. For what it's worth I was absolutely wild about my ex-girlfriend, and her condition didn't bother me at all and played no role in our break-up. So as long as you feel like you're a special person who has a lot to offer, somebody should take notice of you and you won't be boyfriendless... even if you are bald! There's an interesting article on ABC's website about Trichotillomania. I would suggest trying to find a support group and develop relationships with folks who are going through the same thing. Best wishes!

Zoloft for the obsessive/compulsive behavior. I don't think the Prozac is all that great, it's an older SSRI patent.
Also, eat a well balanced diet, take vitamin b complex, vitamin e, ginseng, and gingko, and exercise with a good sweat built up. I think that will help.
You may also need to see a counselor if the antidep. doesn't work. Maybe you are sabotaging your love life by doing this and it isn't clear to you why right now.

This is a good guide with a step-by-step method to get your hair back http://hairagain.toptips.org
Male hair loss is the most common type of hair loss. It's caused by increased sensitivity to male sex hormones (androgens) in certain parts of the scalp, and is passed on from generation to generation. There are many factors that can attribute to hair recession or massive hair fall. You can try to regain your full head of healthy hair by following natural methods: they are cheaper, they have no side effect and very often more effective than conventional one.
As said above an interesting guide you can follow to get your hair back and prevent future hair loss without dangerous chemicals and drugs, and without expensive supplements or painful hair transplants is available on this site: http://hairagain.toptips.org
Cheers.

This may seem extreme but try wearing a bathing cap as often as you can and when you reach for your head you will feel the rubber and hopefully it will conscously remind you what you are doing. I don't know if it will work but hopefully after awhile you will lost the complulsion to do this. I would also talk to your doctor. I know wearing a bathing cap around everywhere isn't really feasable so there may be some other things like a handkercheif.

Have you tried to check with a doctor exactly what you are suffering from? There can be many causes. It will be hard to introduce a natural therapy without really knowing what exactly is your condition.
However, here is a resource directory that has a catalogue of various natural health treatments that you can read up on http://www.healthandwellnesscentral.com.
Good luck and take care!

You don't actually have a balding problem. You are having trouble stopping yourself from yanking your hair out - that's the problem. Have you tried ways to de-stress and relax? Yoga? Flute and piano music? Sounds of bird chirping? Spa therapy?
If your problem is replacing your normal life, then you may need to see a doctor and let him diagnose you for the proper treatment. You may be suffering from an anxiety disorder but get yourself diagnosed first.
