Well basically, Japanese food is well as the name suggests, food invented by the Japanese, who are from Japan... Well some examples are Sushi, Rice Bowls, Domburi, Onigiri, Kare Raisu (Curry Rice), Fried Rice, etc. If you want to learn more go to these links

food that has originated from japan.....examples are sushi which is raw seafood....tepinyaki where food is cooked on a grill in front of you....wasabi is a paste they use it is green and very hot (from horseradish)....sushimi semi cooked seafood and nori rolls which is a meat like tuna or beef wrapped in rice and seaweed rolls and then they have dishes similar to chinese like fried rice and meats and seafood cooked in a sauce (blackbean, sweet and sour etc).....

i live here in japan and the variety of japanese food is amazing. I used to think it was only sushi and tempura. there is everything imaginable....
